In its second high-profile matchup of the season, No. 9 Florida came up short once again, falling to No. 3 Syracuse 72-68.

Kenny Boynton led the Gators with 22 points and Erving Walker added 17 in defeat.

While you cannot pin the burden of the loss on one player, UF was certainly hurt by a poor shooting performance by star freshman Brad Beal.

Beal, who is averaging 15.6 points per game this season, was 2-of-9 from the field and scored just 7 points on the night.

However, he did lead Florida with 10 rebounds.

Despite defeat, the Gators outshot the Orange 34.6 percent to 17.6 percent from beyond the arc.

Florida's next game comes at home against Arizona Wednesday.
