Florida Gators halfback recruit Mike Blakely will undergo shoulder surgery Wednesday, which will cause him to miss spring practice.

Blakely, an Under Armour All-American, expects to be ready for summer and fall practices for the Gators.

The extent and the type of injury that Blakely has sustained in his shoulder is unknown.

Blakely rushed for more than 1,900 yards for Bradenton Manatee as a senior in 2010.

Gator coaches working hard on the recruiting trail

New Florida Gators head coach Will Muschamp has been aggressively recruiting the nation's top prospects since being hired in December.

Muschamp and offensive line coach/running game coordinator Frank Verducci made an in-home visit to three-star offensive lineman Chase Hounshell.

Hounshell said that Muschamp and Verducci were "first class" and "just great people" and he will visit Gainesville this upcoming weekend.

Defensive line coach Bryant Young is also selling the Gators to high school recruits, most notably five-star defensive tackle Tim Jernigan.

Young is in the process of trying to convince Jernigan, who lists Alabama, Florida State, and LSU as his top three schools, to reconsider Florida.
