Assistant coach Larry Shyatt was officially announced as the head coach of the University of Wyoming March 31.
Shyatt has been with the Gators since 2004, where his impact immediately became evident.
In his first season he helped the Gators rise from eleventh in the SEC in points per game, to third.
He also helped lead the Gators to back-to-back national championships in 2006 and 2007.
Interestingly enough, Shyatt has been the head coach at Wyoming before, from 1997-1998, where he posted a much improved 19-9 record with an NIT appearance over the 12-16 season the Cowboys had the year before.
He left after being offered a job at Clemson, where he went 70-84 in his tenure with the Tigers.
His current contract with the Cowboys is over the next five years.
