Despite being listed as "probable" earlier this week, junior running back Jeff Demps (sprained left foot) is now "50-50" for the Mississippi State game according to Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post.

Urban Meyer was surprised about the sudden turn of events and asked the doctors why Demps was downgraded.

"I don't know [why Demps' status keeps changing]," Meyer told Lieser. "I ask the same exact [to the team medical staff]. How does that happen?

"The whole thing is about, they tell me, if he can run without pain. And so they were feeling better earlier in the week and he had a little pain yesterday. We'll know more tomorrow."

For a team that has been absolutely anemic on offense lately, seeing Demps' condition worsen is bad news for the Gators.

The Florida offense has sorely missed its "home run" threat and if they have to go another game without Demps, the Gators may be in a lot of trouble against Mississippi State.

Additionally, with the Gator Nation's growing opposition to Steve Addazio, the embattled offensive coordinator desperately needs all of his playmakers at his disposal.

Here's hoping that Demps will line up at running back for the Orange and Blue this Saturday.
