Following an eight-day break after a hard-fought win against Tennessee, the Florida Gators looked to put away a weak LSU team early on Sunday. Though the Gators did come away with a win, it did not come easy.
Leading by 15 at the half, the Gators allowed the Tigers to stay in the game throughout the second half. The game was as close as six points with 1:46 left, but the Gators hung on to win 68-61.
Kenny Boynton and Erving Walker each scored 17 points, while Vernon Macklin added 16 points and 7 rebounds. Patric Young provided a spark off the bench, scoring 6 points with 6 rebounds in 18 minutes.
The Tigers' zone defense in the second half seemed to stifle the Gators offense, which is something to watch moving forward.
The Gators (21-5, 10-2 SEC) will return home on Thursday to play the Georgia Bulldogs.
