March Madness just got a little crazier in Gainesville.

In a surprising announcement, Florida earned a No. 2 seed in the Southeast region, set to play No. 15 seed Cal-Santa Barbara.

With a regular season Southeastern Conference crown under their belts, the Gators looked poised to get a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

However, after a disappointing 70-54 loss in the SEC final to Kentucky, the No. 4 seed in the East region, Florida actually managed to improve upon their projected slot.

The Gators kick off NCAA Tournament action in Tampa Thursday at 6:50 on TBS.
