According to Rachel George of The Orlando Sentinel, freshman safety Jonathan Dowling has been kicked off the team due to a rules violation.

Dowling must be in some serious trouble with the team if he got the boot from Urban Meyer, especially since Florida's coach let Chris Rainey return to the Gators this weekend after a five-game suspension for an aggravated stalking charge.

However, George found no cases involving Dowling more serious than a traffic violation, so this is probably an in-house issue and likely had nothing to do with the freshman safety getting into legal trouble.

This Dowling incident proves once again that Meyer is very hot-and-cold when it comes to disciplinary issues, but maybe there's more to this decision.

Perhaps Rainey was actually the final straw for Meyer and he now has zero tolerance for players that are out of line.

The Gator Nation can only hope.
