Over the weekend, four different Gators were picked the the NFL Draft. The most notable pick was Mike Pouncey to the Dolphins, 15th overall. In the second round, offensive lineman Marcus Gilbet was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers 63rd overall, where he will meet up with Pro Bowler Maurkice Pouncey and offensive tackle Max Starks.
Ahmad Black was selected in the 5th round, 151st overall. He'll be staying within the state, a mere hour and a half from Gainesville in Tampa Bay. The only other Gator on the Buccaneers' roster is running back Earnest Graham.
The last Gator drafted was offensive lineman Maurice Hurt, who went to the Redskins 217th overall in the 7th round. The only other Gator on the current roster is quarterback Rex Grossman.
Undrafted Florida players include Will Hill, Chas Henry, and Carl Johnson. All three can be picked up in free agency when the NFL lockout ends. Janoris Jenkins can also be selected in the NFL Supplemental Draft.
In comparison to in-state rivals, Florida State had three players drafted; Miami had eight players drafted; and South Florida had three players drafted.
