A week after being eliminated from the NCAA tournament, the Florida Gators got some encouraging news for their future.

Bradley Beal, the highly sought-after guard from St. Louis and a Gator recruit, was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year today.

For Chaminade College Prep, Beal averaged 32.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.7 steals per game.

Beal is the first Gator recruit to ever win this coveted award.
