In their last contest before conference play, the Florida Gators defeated the Rhode Island Rams 84-59 at the O'Connell Center Monday.

While there was plenty for Florida to smile about in this game, nothing was more encouraging for the Gators than Chandler Parsons' performance.

Parsons turned in a season-best effort, recording a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Erving Walker, Kenny Boynton, and Alex Tyus also scored in double figures, scoring 14, 10, and 10 points, respectively.

Florida shot 47 percent from the field compared to Rhode Island's 37.5 percent, but lost the turnover battle to the Rams, giving up the ball 13 times and only forcing 11 turnovers.

The Gators will begin SEC play by hosting the Ole Miss Rebels at the O'Dome January 8 at 8:00 p.m.
