Florida defeats Penn State 37-24: Ahmad Black, defense send Urban Meyer out a winner
The grin on Florida Gators head coach Urban Meyer's face said it all.
He wisely removed his headset before being doused with Gatorade on a euphoric Florida sideline.
Ahmad Black has just picked off Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin and returned it for a touchdown, clinching a 37-24 victory in the Outback Bowl.
Black's second interception was McGloin's fifth pick on a day where no matter what went wrong, the Gators kept escaping trouble.
In addition to five interceptions from the defense, Florida also received some help from the special teams play, including a blocked punt from Chris Rainey that was returned for a touchdown by Lerentee McCray.
Meyer and Nittany Lions head coach Joe Paterno have gotten along really well this week and their midfield meeting following the game was both heartwarming and special.
"[Paterno] said, 'I love you, kid,'" Meyer said. "He's the only one who calls me kid. And I love him, too."
