Florida continues slide, falls to No. 19 Auburn 17-6
There were many reasons why Florida should not have won this weekend's game against No. 19 Auburn, but none of those factors cost Will Muschamp's team Saturday night.
Instead, it was careless special teams play that sunk the Gators in a 17-6 loss to the Tigers.
Florida muffed four punts, causing them to cede possession to Auburn twice on the wrong side of the field.
Those miscues, as well as an inefficient offense, plagued the Gators throughout their third consecutive loss.
While the UF defense yielded 155 yards on the ground to AU, the road team's rushing defense was still solid, coming up with key stops when needed.
But in the end, Florida could not do enough to pull out the victory, showing glaring inexperience that will continue to be its biggest weakness.
Here's a video, courtesy of SportsGrid.com, showing a particular meltdown from coach Will Muschamp after a muffed punt by Chris Rainey in the first quarter. His emotions epitomize the Gators' last three contests perfectly. (WARNING: This video has explicit language. Viewer discretion is advised.)
